Prayer for When We Are Scunnered.

This prayer was written in response to a moving conversation with someone near broken because of "the usual crap."
 
O Lord who silenced the wind and stilled the storm,
Who broke bread to feed the hungry in their thousands,
Who provided the biggest carry out ever when the wine ran out,
Who made an honest man of wee Zacchaeus,
Who stood between a woman and her accusers holding an unthrown stone,
And who every day dealt with the usual crap,
Your grace is sufficient and your presence promised,
Amen

    A few years ago [when such things were possible] I sat in a corner of the chapel with two teenagers- one struggling with the divorce of parents, and both deeply grieving over the sudden death of another teenager we knew. I just said “Lord this is crap. Be with us and get us through it, for Jesus’ sake Amen” … and then realised they were both agog that the Pastor’s wife used such language in a prayer. Was that allowed? But the discussion that followed was amazing!
